Cat Statistics

One female cat and her offspring can produce 420,000 cats in 7 years.
For every human born in the United States, 7 puppies and kittens are born. Of those, only 1 in 5 puppies and kittens stay in their original home for his/her natural lifetime. The remaining 4 are abandoned to the streets or end up at a shelter.
More and more pets — cats and dogs alike — are brought to shelters and rescues each day.
Between 8-12 MILLION dogs and cats are euthanized (“put to sleep”) in shelters each year.
Millions more are abandoned in rural and urban areas.
